Rio Brilhante is a farm run by Inácio Urban and family; Fernando (son), Érika (daughter) and Noé (son in law). Inácio was born in the southernmost state of the country, Rio Grande do Sul, and is of German descent. Since his relatives arrived in Brazil they started producing food on a small scale. In the Cerrado Mineiro Region of the 80s, he discovered the possibility of producing on a larger scale. The soil was of poor quality and hence of little value, but Inácio started with 20 hectares of coffee, as he says, "to learn what it was like to grow coffee.” After more than 35 years of hard work, the coffee you are tasting is well worth the wait.
