French Press Brew Recipe

MATERIALS

  • French Press
  • 25g. of Coffee (Coarsely Ground)
  • Kettle
  • Scale
  • Timer
  • Grinder
  • Spoon

METHOD

  • In a teapot or electric kettle, heat 375g. of water to near boiling (200F).
  • Grind 25g. of coffee on the course setting of your grinder. Place the coffee grounds into the french press and place the brew vessel on the scale. Remember to tare your scale before you make your first pour!
  • Once water is heated, pour twice the amount of water to coffee onto your grounds. Since we used 25g. of coffee, we will be pouring in 50g. of water. Make sure you saturate all coffee grounds. Allow coffee to "bloom", or release CO2 gasses, for 30 seconds.
  • After the 30 second bloom, pour in the remaining water until the scale reads 375g.
  • Let the coffee steep for four minutes.
  • Place the french press plunger onto the brew vessel and press down to separate the grounds from the brewed coffee.
