v60 Recipe Guide

MATERIALS

  • 25g. of Coffee (Ground Similar to Flakey Sea Salt)
  • V60 Brewer
  • V60 Filters
  • Kettle
  • Scale
  • Decanter or Mug
  • Timer

Brew Time:  3 minutes

METHOD

  1. In a teapot or electric kettle, heat 375g of water to near boiling (200F). As the water heats up, place a v60 filter into the dripper and place on top of decanter or mug. Once water is heated, pre-wet filter and discard excess water from the brewing vessel before brewing.
  2. Grind 25g. of coffee. The grind size should resemble the texture of sea salt. Add the coffee to the pre-wet filter, gently tapping the dripper to level the surface of the coffee. Place the brewer onto the scale and tare to zero.
  3. Start your timer and pour double the amount of water as coffee in a spiral motion, making sure all grounds are saturated. Since we are using 25g. of coffee, we are going to add 50g. of water for the first pour. Let coffee bloom, or release CO2 gasses, for 30 seconds. You will see bubbles raise from the coffee bed.
  4. Slowly pour more water over the grounds in a spiral motion starting from the center, moving to the outer edge, and back to the center, pausing every 15 seconds to let coffee filter through. Continue pouring until the scale reads 375g. Let brewed coffee filter into the decanter or mug.
